New Delhi: The 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai that killed 166 people were originally planned for execution during Ramzan that year, according to the interrogation report of Lashkar-e-Taiba operative David Coleman Headley.
The plan was aborted after the boat carrying the terrorists capsized.
CNN-IBN accessed the complete interrogation report of Headley, in which the Pakistani double agent explains the logic behind the 26/11 attacks.
Plans to attack the Raksha Bhawan were aborted as the operative in charge was denied visa by the Indian Government.
The NIA report also reveals Headley’s ties with the Pakistani establishment and terror outfits. It also throws light on the ISI’s involvement in providing assistance to 26/11 plotters.
Among other things, the report said the Pakistani Prime Minister had visited Headley's home in 2008 when his father passed away.
The ISI was under tremendous pressure to energise terror cadres and wanted the theatre of violence to shift from Pakistan to India.
Headley pleaded guilty in March for his role in the attacks in which the Pakistani terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba killed 166 people.
