London: Bollywood aspirants in the UK have some reason to celebrate. The Hindi film industry has just come a step closer with the opening of Anupam Kher's acting school 'An Actor Prepares'.
The actor was in London for the launch.
Kher whose recent performance in A Wednesday was appreciated by critics and masses, is grabbing headlines for more than one reason.
After Mumbai, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, the actor opened the London branch of his acting school 'An Actor Prepares' on Monday and chose seven aspirants to be a part of the UK's first Bollywood acting school.
Actor and Course Leader Anupam Kher says, "London being the cultural capital of the world it was a very obvious choice to establish the school here because there is a lot of interest in cinema but there are a lot of people who want to learn over here and with the association of the movies that I did in the past.”
The course is based on Kher's experience of acting in three hundred and seventy eight films and gives these trainee actors a rounded learning experience.
If the chance to work with the versatile Kher isn't enough, many sign-up for the course purely for their love of Indian cinema.
"I'm an old fashioned romantic so I love the colours, the dancing and the music, so that's really exciting me but just the chance to become an actor, become an accomplished actor has what's drawn me to this course," quips Trainee actor, 'The Actor Prepares' Prinesh Mistry.
Another trainee actor Anu Singh says, "You know I think it's the culture that we hold onto, I think it was evident from when I was four, I love dancing so because it's a huge part of it I enjoy that too.”
The entry into 'The Actor Prepares' comes at a hefty price of six thousand pounds but the students don't seem to mind it even one bit as along with knowledge and experience, the course includes a trip to India to experience Bollywood first hand.
