In the coastal area of Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district, a local fisherman has caught a large prawn, which has become the buzz of the town. Generally, the prawns we buy from the markets cost about Rs 400 per kilogram. The larger ones may go up to Rs 800 per kilogram. But, can you take a wild guess regarding the price of the massive prawn? The traders showcased the crustacean in the market, which attracted customers.

In the Uppada Addaripeta Thondangi, Kakinada district in Andhra Pradesh, a fisherman caught a large prawn which got a price tag of above Rs 2,000. The fisherman caught the prawn in a net and carefully took it out of the water and sold it to a trader. The trader who bought it from the fisherman decided to display it in the market and customers were shocked to see the size of the prawn.

While the trader was getting a good price for the huge prawn, he was not very keen on selling it. The reason was that the display of the crustacean pulled in the crowd to his shop and the customers ended up buying other fishes. The prawn’s huge size along with its prominent claws caught the spotlight and became the talk of the town.

The trader in an interview with Local 18 shared that prawns of such huge sizes are generally exported to other countries. He also mentioned that it was the first time such a massive-sized prawn was found in this region. The prawn weighed more than a kilogram. Regardless of its price, it caught the eye of every customer in the market. Many took pictures of the prawn and some even tried to hold it in their hands.

Generally, one kilo of small prawns would have about 40 to 60 pieces, while the larger-sized prawns for the same weight would have about 20 to 30 pieces.
