CHENNAI: A number of free courses have been arranged for the BC/MBC/DNC/SC/ST and minority (Muslims and Christians) candidates by the National Backward Classes Finance Development Corporation (NBCFDC), Tamil Nadu Minorities Corporation (TAMCO), in collaboration with Apparel Training and Design Centre (under the Ministry of Textile, Govt. of India). The courses are: A one- year diploma in Apparel Manufacturing Technology (AMT), a six-month certificate course in Production Supervision/ Quality control (PSQC), a six-month certificate course in Apparel Pattern Making (APM), a four-month certificate course in Garment Construction Techniques (GCT) and a four-month certificate course in Industrial Sewing Machine Techniques (ISMT).The above mentioned courses are for both men and women and come with a job guarantee. Intensive training sessions will be conducted (three hours per day) to help students familiarise themselves with the garment industry.
