BANGALORE: A father has given a complaint to the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission, (KSHRC) stating that his son Ashok, a juvenile offender, has become a victim of Mahalakshmi Layout police's rage.
Mallikarjun has alleged that his son was arrested by the police illegally on July 25. Reportedly, they questioned him about Ramesh alias Kulli and Manikanta, two criminals. Though the victim pleaded that he did not have any information, the police allegedly subjected him into third degree treatment. He sustained fracture in his leg and was hospitalised. The complaint further stated that the police took him to hospital the next day and on July 27 morning, Ashok's family to know about the police harassment. The victim was allegedly threatened that he would be killed in a police encounter if he leaked the matter to any outsider, the complaint stated.However, the Mahalakshmi Layout police have denied the charges and said that Ashok himself had filed a complaint with the police on July 26 alleging that Kulli and Manikanta had tried to murder him.

"He had mentioned that his leg was broken in the attack. Even Ashok has a criminal background," the police said. The KSHRC Chairman S R Nayak visited the victim at K C General Hospital in Malleswaram.
