Naxalite remanded in judicial custody

CHENNAI: Manivasagam, said to be a member of Naxal State committee, who was arrested by the Q Branch police near Thanjavur on Monday, was remanded in judicial custody by a Sessions Court in Chennai, on Tuesday.In the absence of the Poonamallee Tada Court judge, Manivasagam was produced before the Additional Sessions Judge S Kalavathi, who remanded him in judicial custody till February 26. He should be produced before the Tada Court judge on February 27, the judge said.It is learnt that a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Manivasagam by a Tada court in 2008 and he had been absconding since then.
