Nepal's Election Commission, on Saturday, re-opened voter registration across the country ahead of the forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections in November.
According to spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai, the EC has given a week-long additional period for registering names on the biometric voter's list to those voters who missed earlier deadline.
The voter registration will continue until August 23 without affecting the timetable of the November 19 Constituent Assembly elections.
Earlier, the EC had collected the voters' name list until mid-July.
The EC is preparing to publish the final name list of the voters on September 7.
Members of the former royal family Puja Shah, Sitashma Shah and Dilasha Shah, daughters of ex-prince Dhirendra Shah, registered their names at the Election Commission, according to EC sources.
When the Election Commission concluded registering voters' name in the voters' list the total number of voters stood at 12.4 million, which is much less than that of 2008 CA elections, when the number of voters stood at 17.6 million.
Interestingly, the population has increased by 3.3 million between 2009 and 2011, when the latest census was conducted.
