People’s Plaza grounds on necklace road is hosting the fifth annual trade carnival by the Confederation of women entrepreneurs (COWE) in association with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC).Inaugurated on Thursday evening by Geetha Reddy, minister for major industries, the exhibition will be on till October 16.Speaking at the inauguration, Dr Geetha Reddy observed the need to continue supporting the current significant rise in women entrepreneurs in micro industries. The trade carnival hence, is an opportunity fro prospective women entrepreneurs to formalize their business. Facilitating the businesses, the exhibition is divided into two sections separately - one for commercial customers and the other for aspiring entrepreneurs.Commercial customers can purchase from a wide variety of handicrafts, jewellery and accessories, home décor, paintings and electronic goods spread across 150 stalls.The other end of the expo gives entrepreneurs guidance through business meetings with public and private sector firms like Ramky, Meena Bazar, Ratnadeep and other similar firms from the city.President of COWE, Sandhya Reddy said, “As the next initiative, we are launching a web portal on October 16 which will provide 24X7 online marketing support for our members.”
