1. Born on January 21, 1986, in Bihar’s Patna, Sushant was the son of Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. He was the youngest in the family and had four elder sisters (one sibling passed away at a young age). Sushant lost his mother when he was only 16.
2. After completing his schooling, Sushant managed to get 7th rank in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) and was also a winner of the Physics National Olympiad. He later studied engineering but did not get to complete his course. Due to his love for cinema, Sushant joined theatre workshops and started working as a background dancer in live events and films such as Dhoom 2.
3. After appearing in the TV show ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ in 2008, Sushant major breakthrough came with Ekta Kapoor’s popular TV series, Pavitra Rishta, which made him a household name. After the show’s success, he went on to appear in dance reality shows like Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.
4. After his stint in the TV industry, Sushant forayed into films with the critically and commercially hit film ‘Kai Po Che!’, which hit screens in 2013. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life.
5. He later went on to appear in films like Shuddh Desi Romance, PK and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! A major highlight of his acting career was the film ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, which was based on the life of renowned cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film was a major box-office success and made Sushant a prominent name in the industry.
6. Later, Sushant was seen in films like Raabta, Kedarnath, Sonchiriya and Chhichhore. For his variety of roles, Sushant received several nominations at big award shows.
7. Sushant was found dead at his flat in Mumbai’s Bandra on June 14, 2020. The Police had ruled it a suicide, while his fans and family suspected foul play and demanded a CBI investigation into the matter. The actor’s last project was the 2020 film Dil Bechara, which was released posthumously.
8. Recently, it was reported that actor Adah Sharma has moved into Sushant’s sea-facing flat in Mont Blanc in Mumbai’s Bandra. While speaking with News18, she said, “I think by now the audience, the media and the film industry know that I’m a very private person. I share bits of my life on social media which I will continue to do but the parts I don’t feel comfortable sharing, I’m fiercely protective about them.”
