Only Murders In A Building — Hulu’s popular comedic thriller has a new cast addition. Bridesmaids actress Melissa McCarthy has been roped in to play a crucial role in the upcoming season 4. On May 15, the makers unveiled the official teaser, featuring the two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner. The forthcoming events that pick up from season 3’s conclusion promise another thrilling adventure. The whodunit murder series also stars Selena Gomez in a prominent role alongside Martin Short and Steve Martin.

Melissa McCarthy has joined the previously announced guest celebrities including Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Kind and Molly Shannon. Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jane Lynch and Michael Cyril Creighton will reprise their roles in the fourth segment.

Only Murders In A Building’s teaser opens with Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and Charles-Haden (Steve Martin) trying to uncover Sazz Pataki’s (Jane Lynch) murder. In the season 3 finale, the investigative trio found Sazz was shot and killed in the Arconia by unidentified assassins. The situation turns complex as the three ponder whether the original target was Sazz or Charles. Their nose for mystery takes them to Hollywood, Los Angeles where a studio is willing to produce a film based on their murder podcast.

Mabel, initially hesitant, agrees to the offer and travels to LA with Oliver and Charles, where they get entrapped in hilarious circumstances. But, with the mission clear, they once again dive into the secrets and cryptic lives of Arconia’s West Tower residents. Soon, they start to find out more suspenseful occurrences and record every detail for the podcast. The star-studded cast announcement embedded in the teaser offers viewers a glimpse of Melissa McCarthy in a different avatar, sporting short hair. Her character arc has not been revealed yet.

Melissa McCarthy is not a new candidate for comedy and thriller-oriented movies and shows. She commanded attention in noteworthy projects like Spy, The Heat, Identity Thief, Gilmore Girls, Mike and Molly, and Nine Perfect Strangers to name a few. Her latest comedy-drama Unfrosted, co-starring Hugh Grant and Jerry Seinfield has also struck the right chords with the masses.

Only Murders In A Building Season 4 starts streaming on Hulu on August 27.
