Legendary music composer M S Viswanathan's wife Janaki Viswanathan passed away at a private hospital in Chennai on monday evening. She was 74 and was survived by her husband, three daughters and four sons.
Janaki was a pillar of support to her husband, who ruled Tamil film music till the early 1980s. According to family sources, she was suffering from kidney ailment and was admitted in the hospital. She passed away at 4.15 pm Monday (May 14).
The body will be kept at the Santhome residence till Tuesday. Funeral will also be held on the same day, sources said. Many Kollywood personalities have expressed condolence over the death of Janaki.
Viswanathan, fondly called as MSV, is responsible for many evergreen hit songs of Tamil cinema, especially those from movies starring MGR and Sivaji Ganesan.
